my boyfriend has always been showing that he doesn't really care about me, by not asking stuff about my life etc. so i brought it up and i expected him to address my needs and he just said "its not natural for me to ask questions, im just weird". and it ends there. so i got angry and told him i want a boyfriend who will change for me and try to fulfil my needs. he told me that he is tired as he had to change a lot for me over the short period of time of 8 months. honestly in the past when i asked him to change they werent unreasonable stuff like "dont eat meat". it was stuff that matters in a relationship like "dont lie", "dont neglect me because of your other female friends", "dont be insensitive and point out my flaws". those are basic things i expect and need in a relationship, along with him showing that he's actually interested in my life. but now he's telling me he doesn't want to try anymore because he changed too much for me and is tired. i asked him if he wants a break for a while to replenish his energy and he said "so that u can endlessly drain my energy again?". is this all my fault for asking him to change? why am i not worth just that little effort to change. i want to be with him but at the same time, i dont want to compromise these things that matter to my happiness. what should i do?

Im not even the type of person to play games so it pisses me off that I even feel the need to do this, but I hate to be left on read and it seems like whenever I carry on a conversation with a guy via text thats what happens. On the other hand, when I take hours to respond (or don't respond at all), or send back short/vague responses, that's when it seems like guys want to talk to me.

For example, one of my guy friends has been showing interest in me here lately and I've been remaining aloof with him. Well I recently got sick and he kept checking up on me (he spent a whole day with me one day and the days after that he kept checking up on me via text). Well the other night I was laid up in bed still sick, he texted me, I decided to keep the conversation going. Things were getting lightly flirty or whatever then all of a sudden he stops replying. Still haven't heard from him.

That makes me feel dumb like I shouldn't have let my guard down and kept ignoring him or keeping things short with him. Am I right? Are guys only kept interested by mystery?
