There are different ways to approach this topic. If I always initiate the break up, I could say "I have my standards and when they aren't being met, I call it quits. But if you were my most recent partner, you might say that I am impossible to please.

If my partner always initiates the break up, I might brag that "I never quit on a relationship." My most recent partner might say that I was desperate and clingy. (I'm not!)

As I have gotten older, I initiate about half of my break ups. My last six:

Ingrid - broke up with me because she hasn't "gotten over" the death of her husband (10 years ago.)

Dinah - broke up with me when she read my FB page and realized that I am conservative (but it was never a secret!)

Oksana - I broke up with her because she wanted me to always be a second priority to her twin granddaughters (she overemphasizes how much they need her.)

Valerie - broke up with me because I said I did not want to support her in retirement since she has absolutely no retirement plans and is not even eligible for Social Security.

Nancy - I broke up with her because she was consistently 45 minutes to an hour late for every date.

Ivy - I broke up with her because she didn't love me after two years of dating exclusively

My take on my break ups: As I've gotten older, I'm don't quit unless it is obvious that the relationship is never going to work. I will stay through the tough times! What happens in your break ups?

I started casually dating this girl now 5 years ago, and we ended the casual dating because she couldn't decide who to date exclusively, and because we were young, we didn't handle things right.
Months later, she rekindled things and we started to date as an exclusive couple, but we broke up because of a religious difference.
In winter of 2015, I tried to fix things, but she told me she didn't want me in her life, and I started moving on. Then six months later, she messaged me again, and we started dating again.
We broke up again when she went on a mission for her church in December 2016, and we fell out again, and now she's home and I haven't been able to make contact with her since she was on her mission. She has my contact information still thought.
Each time we built a better, stronger and more wonderful relationship, and she would come back and reach out.
Since she has done it so many times prior. Is it likely she will do it again?
