So as I got older and studied women's rights, child psychology, human psychology, sociology, philosophy, and women's sexual behavior I developed my own stance on protective fathering.

In order to avoid bias, I won't be stating my viewpoint. I want to know what the GAG member-bases feelings are towards Fathers who are very protective of their daughters.

A definition would be a father who would be uncomfortable speaking to his daughter about "feminine" issues, would not want her to date at all, shows hostility towards any males his daughter does date, and keeps close tabs on her.

In your experience, does this method work or not work?

Are you one of these protective fathers or feel you would be?

I read a new article from the "Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin" that men tend to prefer women who are nice and friendly, whereas women tend to prefer men who are unresponsive and less agreeable. Here is an excerpt

“Some women may perceive a responsive man as over eager to please and therefore as less dominant and more feminine,” said the researchers."
"Prof Birnbaum added: "Some women, for example, may interpret responsiveness negatively and feel uncomfortable about a new acquaintance who seems to want to be close."

This boggles my mind, and honestly is most likely the reason I have been unsuccessful with dozens of potential girlfriends.

Back to my question, is this trend cultural or biological? Are women innately attracted to men who dont care about them? If its cultural, what can we do to tweak male behavior and female selection for both sexes to be happy? If its biological, are all nice men doomed to fat ugly women?

Let me illustrate to you ladies: most often, when I am unresponsive to a woman, it is because I am unattracted to her and I dont care if I ever date/sleep with her. Nothing is going to change my mind. Attraction won't develop over time, and you are not going to win me over. If anything happens, I will fuck you and leave you for a more attractive woman. I am being blunt because many ladies need to learn this and I can't stress this enough. If I give a woman less attention, and Im less nice to her, its simply that I dont like/care/find that woman attractive and the ONLY thing that I would do with her is fuck her and leave her. THATS IT! DONE! The sooner you ladies accept that, the better your lives will be. Yet, why do you find those men more attractive?

I don't understand why people need to assert their self-worth and their "congruence with their gender and self-identity" via 'acting more womanly' and/or 'being more manly'.

Technically, if you were born with XX chromosomes with proper genes and stuff, you're female. If you were born with XY chromosomes with proper genes and stuff, you're male.

No matter what you do, you're still the sex that you were born with.

So why care about how your behavior is perceived by some archaic cultural imperatives, when you can be who you want to be? Why assert your self-worth through broken concepts, why resort to the division of social genders, and why enforce behavior patterns on children to "brainwash them" into being "proper Men/Women"?

This whole idea is silly to me. The reason why I ask this question is based on the notion that "a guy must be taller than a girl, so that the girl feels properly feminine". Why? What does even feeling "feminine" mean? Congruence with social standards? Why can't you be who you are? Why can't you just thrive to be the best person you can be, no matter how "masculine" or "feminine" that is perceived?

I think this notion makes us be held down and bogged down in a series of traditions, rather than properly progress as people.

People should be who they are. Act like they naturally would. Be the best they can. Not be bogged down by silly concepts , broken ones.

You can also state preferences in appearance, height, personality ( behavior , tastes in music, etc), level of intelligence and even income or career that you consider masculine/feminine.

The poll is just for the first question and refers to personality or behavior but you can state whether it contrasts with your appearance.

Being "girly " (as in BEHAVIOR; not just fashion) can be viewed in a positive way (embracing your feminine side) or negative way (weak, submissive, anti-feminist).

Which do you feel is the consensus with the overall female population in America?
