Best friends for 5 years. Stayed up all night, had fun, did whatever, didn't get bored of each other, shared the same interests. Then he acted like he liked me, so I finally admitted I liked him back. We acted like a couple... stayed up all night, cuddling, talking about where we'd travel, what we want to do with our lives etc. Then when it came to kissing he told me I could kiss him, but he wouldn't kiss me. Then, when I went back to school (we live on opposite coasts) he said he just wanted me and that he was just physically attracted to me... oh but I was still his best friend.

Then a year later he said he just don't click anymore, that he just used me because he was lonely and wanted to know what it was like to have a girlfriend. Naturally, I was upset and said if he used me we should stop talking for some time and revisit friendship again later. Then he wrote me letters about how much he loved me "as a friend" and named a love song for me.

We eventually spoke again, he told me he was over the past and didn't want to talk about what he did and that I should be over it too. Then he told me that the love song he picked was what he thinks I think about him. So d-baggy.

I finally told him about all the lies, I had it in writing. He told me he needed time to think, wrote me back two weeks later saying how he hasn't figured out everything, but still really wants to be friends. I wrote him back and said I wasn't ready for it and I didn't think he was either. He wrote me back and made me promise to talk to him again! Did I make the right decision in telling him we aren't speaking for a while?

We fought a lot towards the end of our friendship. We had had a "thing" and then he told me he was just using me and that he was just very physically attracted to me. He said I am still his best friend and that he feels like he really hasn't liked me for a long time. I was really upset that he said he had just used me because he was lonely... so I told him we couldn't be friends and that we needed to go our separate ways. Friends don't do that to friends and we had been best friends for a while.

He wrote me a letter saying how much I meant to him, he loved me (as a friend) and some love song reminded him of me and how much he wants to be with someone like me. Then, two months later, he took back the song and said it's what he thinks I think of him... I was pretty mad so I called him out on lying to me. I said he must really be in denial about liking me... the way he talks to me, looks at me, I can tell he still has some kind of feeling for me. Not sure what it is.

Anywho, so I called him out on lying and we haven't spoken since then. He said he needs time to think. I've so enjoyed not having to talk to him... is that awful? We had so many great times and I am going to miss them, but I don't know if they are ever coming back. I just keep finding more lies. He changes the story about what happened b/t us all the time. It makes it seem like he liked me all along and he's still trying to convince himself that he doesn't and never did.

Case in point, should I feel guilty for enjoying the peace of not having him in my life, begging for me, then lying to me, being fake and then acting like he likes me/then he doesn't like me? Maybe we can be friends in the future, but I don't know about right now. I could still see us dating, that's the scary part. Sometimes I wonder why he wants to be friends so badly.

I am really suspicious of one of my guy friends. I think he likes me... not sure why, but he just seems like he does. He claims that he doesn't or "doesn't think so." What is that supposed to mean? I'm not even really sure what it is that he does that makes me think that he likes me, but he just seems like he does... all of the girls he likes are like me, he still calls me attractive, but yet... idk.

We go to school on opposite coasts of the country and he texts me like every 3-4 days it seems just to say hi. We went through a rough patch where we thought our friendship was falling apart... now he wants to hang onto it. He said it won't go back to what it was ever, but that he still wants to be friends because we've been friends for so long. He even picked a love song that reminds him of me... I asked him why that song and he said he didn't know, just "because," it was playing and it made him think of me. I don't know. He says that some friends stick around for a reason, a season, a lifetime and he wants me around for a lifetime. Could really just genuinely mean that he wants me as a close friend? Or is he saying he might want more? I know he used to like me, but I think it's a been a while. I'm confused!
