Search Results: scared of getting hurt

I've been talking to this guy, and we don't see each other all that much because he lives 12 hours away from me, but we definitely have feelings for each other and we've both admitted it. He's incredible, and he makes me really happy (although I don't really know if he knows that). I don't wanna smother him with feelings, but we've been talking for a long while now and we still haven't talked about our past relationship (s) or where we want this to go.
My main fear is getting hurt, especially after my last relationship. Only thing is, he has no idea about this. Should I bring it up? If so, how do I do that?
I just don't want to do it in a way that scares him off or makes him uncomfortable I guess, because he doesn't seem to be the type to express feelings that much.

Last time I had serious feelings for a guy, I ended up getting extremely hurt and in turn, began leading guys on and playing them just because I wanted attention. I feel horrible for doing this. I’m talking to a guy now, and I only recently stopped talking to other guys because of how serious my feelings are for this one.

After I got hurt, I went through a downwards spiral and really struggled. I never got proper help, so I’m terrified that if the guy I’m talking to now hurts me or if anything goes wrong, I’ll go through all of that again. It was most definitely the worst experience I have ever had. I’m not sure if he has feelings for me, although it does seem like he does (but I’m scared of asking). What would you do if you were in this situation?

Personally I can relate to this question because I lived with a very narcissistic and abusive mother. When I decide to date someone, I don’t really know how to go about telling them without making them pity me. Long story short, my father was a drug addict and my mother was highly manipulative and psychologically abusive. I have mild depression and I am working out my issues. Like how do you tell someone my background without scaring them? I have cut my mother out of my life because she has hurt me enough and isn’t capable of changing. Would you judge me for that? For having this background? Would someone leave me?
