Everyone's heard the saying "nice guys finish last" but is the same true for the nice girls?

I know other girls who talk about how guys do really sweet things for them like taking them out to very nice dinners, or to a romantic hotel get away. They'll send these girls flowers, cards, gifts, etc. Take them on really classy dates and all.

Then these girls just blow it off as nothing and actually expect this stuff from all guys so then it isn't nearly as valuable. Most the time they have no intention of being with the guy long term, and have even cheated on him in one way or another.

Meanwhile all I do is right by the guys I date but I find myself covering the tabs or being asked if I'm paying my half of the bill. Not that I expect any man to do those luxury things for me, ever, but if he did I'd be very happy, appreciative, and grateful.

I just don't understand why such ungrateful women get such nice treatment from men?

My bf and I have been together for a little over a year and everything has been great. We have our arguments like any other couple would I have and we get over it. Now we are both really busy and don't really have time to talk. He is now getting ready to finish college and I'm in my second year. I know he loves me and I love him but because we don't communicate as much I feel things are different. I trust him so much and i know that he's not cheating on me so that's not taking his attention away. I don't know what I should do because I really do love him. We talk about our future together, meeting each other and things like that. Should I end it or am I being over dramatic and things like this happen all the time.

I was at the drive through at starbucks, and while waiting for they guy to finish putting together my order (which was taking a very long time...) i decided to put eyeliner on while i waited, since i hadn't had time to finish getting ready before leaving my house.

So the guy gives me my food finally, and then says "... one more thing, you look good. you dont need to put on makeup". To which I half laughed and politely said thanks before driving away. Im not making a big deal of this or anything because i realize its a totally silly thing to waste a lot of time thinking about.

But Ieft a little perplexed as to what his intended purpose behind that comment was. On the one hand, it could be flattering, like if he had chosen more tactful words and instead said "by the way, just so you know you look good with or without the makeup, so dont worry about it".,, or something like that. However the way he actually said it I also head it to sort of mean "dont put on all that makeup. you looked better before". while not an insult strictly speaking, that would sentiment in contrast, certainly borders along backhanded compliment territory, which is more insult than compliment, and to an extent most often said with the intent of making the "complimentee" feel stupid or embarrassed about something.

Anyway, was this guy just awkward and lacking tact with his choice of words? Or was he just a smug ass h*ole?
