I was a single mom but now have a partner.

My biggest challenge as a single mom was balancing bills and the fear of not having enough for the kids to eat. It was emotionally hard when there was not enough for special occasions. It was hard but I managed to keep us afloat. All the necessities were covered.

As a blended family the challenge was learning how to co-parent. The children picked up quickly that I might say no but if they ask their new stepdad next or first he most likely would say yes. As the new stepdad he wanted to please them and they caught on to that.
So now we have an established rule that we will give them our opinion but they have to ask the other too. Overtime my partner became comfortable recorrecting the children. Mind you he was only able to be seen as a disciplinarian because my children were under the age of 5.
