I haven’t talked to my ex in a little over a year. He recently messaged me and said he was sorry for being an ass to me. But he did it in the most generic way and it looks like a message that he copy and pasted and sent to other people. Should I not saying anything or should I tell him how irritated I am with the fact that it is an empty apology?

After we broke up I was expecting my ex to apologize, because he had hurt me a lot, but he never did. I wrote him a message saying how much he had made me suffer and that I was disappointed by the fact he hadn’t apologized. I told him he had lied to me the whole time - that’s how I felt at that moment, even if I know he’s a good person and I know hat probably he didn’t lie.

He got angry at me and blocked me. For all this time I thought he did that just out of being a jerk - because I had called him out on it and it annoyed him. But a while ago he replied to a message with an answer from which I understood that my accuses of having lied had hurt him. He told me never to contact him again, but if I hurt him I’d like him to hear my apologies: he hurt me and he owed me apologies; so if I hurt him I want to apologize because I feel that’s right.

should I call him and apologize, maybe hanging up right after as I don’t want to discuss or anything and he doesn’t want to talk to me anymore, or should I just ignore him and live with the fact I hurt someone I care about and didn’t apologize?
