My boss is very passive-aggressive and conflict-avoidant. He's the typical "nice" guy on the surface, but behind the scenes he badmouths nearly everyone and tells me that certain people "disgust" him. He's really contemptuous and mean about it. When someone makes him angry, he won't confront the person about it directly but will, for example, skip out on a meeting with that person and then claim he "forgot". He never addresses the actual issue.

He's usually really nice to me and even flirts with me (he's married), but lately I've been getting more vocal, having more opinions and expressing them (whereas before I would just agree with him), and he is not happy about this. It's like he just wants me to sit there and say yes and not assert myself or have a personality of my own.

I'm starting to feel uncomfortable around him because I sense that he strongly wants to control me and have me obedient to him.

When I was around nine years old I had two evil fake friends. We were “friends” for a year. Then they stopped talking to me. While we were talking, they made me do weird dares sometimes. One was go up to a girl during recess and ask her “do you know (the girls brothers name?)” her brother was this guy they had a random fascination with. The girl looked at me weird and was like “why”? I just left. They would force me to say things I didn’t want to say. Like I would go to the bathroom for a few minutes then come back (during recess) to fix my hair. They made me say why. I said “to fix my hair” they didn’t believe me. So I just made something up and said “I don’t have friends” then they let it go. They were overall just passive aggressive to me, but no direct insults, no name calling. I was a pretty thick skinned girl, so this didn’t make me feel too bad, but made me feel slightly bad, because it was two people being jerks to me, so of course it would. Bullying or just immature ex friends?

So I made plan's with this guy to go eat at a restaurant I like. He agreed on a date but didn't specify a time and also added ''if not that day maybe after''. Now, this guy has the tendency to be flakey from past experience. (That is one of the reasons why I left him and didn't pursue more)
He came back, recently, and I gave him another chance to redeem himself.
Now, since the day we planned that date, I haven't heard of him ''much''. He did message me out of the blue twice or sends me a post and talked and we shared a few laughs. But he never re-confirmed our date. The day before our date he messaged me but didn't say anything else. His communications stopped abruptly. Now we are today the day we are supposed to meet or so. I messaged him early morning asking ''are we still good for today?'' He hasn't answered to me at all and we are nearing the evening time.
Like last time, I fear he will confirm very last minute if it's ok or not. I truly hate that and I'm losing my patience with him. I don't feel like going to that date anymore so I changed my plan without telling him. My question is If he replies back to my message later this evening should I just ignore him? or tell him I made other plans?
I know I have a tendency to feel bad for ignoring him though and keep thinking I would be labeled as passive-aggressive for going cold on him. What's your take on this? Did it ever happen to you? how did you handle it?
