Been crushing on this girl for quite a bit and asked her to hang out but got rejected because she's "Talking" to this other guy for quite some time now. Btw since the past 2 months I've practically become her close friend(she initiates a lot of texting), BUT I still drop MAJOR hints that I like her and she does not push me away at all. Great right?

Anyway there was a slight misunderstanding a week ago when she asked me what day I'm free and not working, I told my mutual friend that I thought she mighta been giving me a chance and asking me to hang out. My mutual friend casually mentioned to her that I probably got the wrong idea and thought she was gonna ask me to hang out, and he told me she smiled and said that yes I did misunderstand

So the fact that she smiled when she heard my miscommunication that I thought she was gonna ask me to hang out, is that a good sign? or something neutral?

Well she sometimes complains to me about being bored and lonely. Like today we were texting about each others' Christmas plans and she's txts:

"I'm not really doing much, and my sister isin't home anymore to keep me company"

--1: So I don't get it.. am I supposed to ask her to hang out or something? I'm worried because 1: She doesn't drop major hints of "liking" me, 2: she's still talking to this other dude and hasn't come to me yet and 3: a lot of mutual friends told me she only thinks of me as a friend.. but probably cause of this other guy in the picture?

She's making cookies for her close friends because of Christmas next week and I found out I'm one of them.

--3: Should I ask for a hug? or is that a no? I might be over thinking it ha ha but the fact she hasn't shown major signs of liking me makes me think it's too much.. espec cause she knows I'm still interested

So this girl has been giving me some hints at school and over text. Sometimes in the hall I will walk by her a not say hi or anything because I'm trying to get to class. After things like this happen she will sometimes not talk to me later for a while. So I was wondering, in general, girls if you like a guy does it make you mad when he ignores you in the hallway occasionally and would it make you lose interest in him? Is it the same reaction if it is just your friend?

I thought most guys, including me, are rather oblivious to girls giving subtle hints to show their interest, and people like me often missed it, many many MANY times. I only realized it a long time after, when I sort of "flashback" at it and only then I could see what you girls were really doing.

I heard many people saying that the guy just doesn't "get it", but really I find it hard to differentiate between subtle hints or just friendly gestures, so.. what would you usually do?
