A girl popular in our school has invited me to her 18th birthday party this October. I'm somewhat close to her and the only reason why we met is because last year, one guy liked both of us at the same time (she approached me, talked to me, and considered me a friend because we both found the guy weird). We didn't talk for nearly a year and we only have talked today when she invited me.

I appreciate her invitation. However, I'm quite undecided whether I'd go or not because the thing that's holding me back is the people attending the same party as well. I know her friends in a surface level (being popular like her) and while I find them friendly, I'm very certain that I wouldn't get along with them because we don't share the same interests.

It's going to be a party and the aim is to have fun... which I think I couldn't manage because the people that'll go don't know me and don't have an idea about who I am. However, I don't want to disappoint my friend with that reason.

Do you think I should go and mingle with her friends there?
Would it make sense if I decline the invitation because of all these thoughts?

Should I go to her birthday party? I'd appreciate opinions.

It's my guy friend/dates birthday soon, and it will only be our second meeting/ date. Anyway we should be meeting up in the evening! and I wanted to do something for his birthday. Should I order something in or take him to dinner? Take him somewhere? Like am I supposed to give/money/present or is that weird? I want it to be sweet! So gag guys I've come to you!
