Kajagoogoo were a synth-pop band mostly popular for their song “Too Shy”, and their weird haircuts of course. Apart from this hit they had some other good songs though. After da release of their first album Limahl followed a solo-career realisin a hit called “Never Ending Story”.

King were another pop group active in mid-80s known for their hit “Love & Pride”. Very underrated band, coz apart from this hit their albums had many gr8 other songs. After their break-up Paul King released a solo-album…. then l8r he became a VJ

Haircut 100 were an 80s new-wave/jazz-pop band mostly known 4 their songs “Favorite Shirts” and “Love Plus One”. Their album “Pelican West” was pretty good. It had some other nice songs beyond those 2.

Not a big-fan of Nick Heyward’s solo works though…but his album “I Love You Avenue” contained a really nice AOR song called “Change Of Heart”. And “Pizza Tears”…just for its title :p

JoBoxers were another band similar sound-wise wid Haircut 100…they had only 1 known hit called “Just Got Lucky”…although their entire album “Like Gangbusters” was gr8 in my opinion.

The Beat (aka The English Beat) were a ska/2-tone band with some hits during da early 80s... mostly known for their songs "Mirror In The Bathroom" and "Can't Get Used To Losing You". After their break-up some members of The Beat formed General Public, a new-wave band yet wid some 2-tone/ska elements. Mostly known for their song "Tenderness".

Personally i liked "I Just Can't Stop It" and "... All The Rage" mostly

Amazulu were a reggae-pop band mostly known for their song "Too Good To Be Forgotten"... didn't like their album so much tbh :|

“black” British bands as well... meanin lead singer’s black (ok FYC’s singer was mixed, but anyway)

Loose Ends were a disco/funk band mostly known 4 their song “Hangin On A String”…their album “Where are you?” was decent though…. but no more than “decent”.

FYC had 2 good albums, especially “The Raw and The Cooked” album…mixin funk music , wid rock or house elements.

E, B & H, were an 1-album band, and this album was called “Homelands” a really good effort, mixin funk n rock elements…similar wid “The Raw and The Cooked”, but not as successful as da later…they had only 1 minor hit though, called “Big Bubbles No Troubles"

Kane Gang were really gr8…. their debut album was a mix of jazz/blue-eyed soul/synth-pop, yet one of da most underrated bands of this era. Their 2nd album was good as well especially their cover version of “Don’t Look Any Further”.

Simply Red were 1 of my least fav bands of this era tbh…not my taste.

Maisonettes and Drum Theatre were 1-album bands…. Maisonettes’ album was just “ok”…and Drum Theatre’s album was kinda above average, with some really good songs J

Blue Zone were an 1 album band, featuring Lisa Stansfield on lead vocals. Pretty good album, also I liked her debut solo album as well…. it was influenced by da late 80s house movement.

Swing Out Sister were kinda similar in style…. although I didn’t like em much tbh…they had a few good songs though.

Same wid Scritti Politti…. although “Cupid & Psyche 85” was “ok”…. but just “ok”

indie/pop-rock bands from da 80s….. Housemartins were somewot popular wid their single “Happy Hour” in the mid-80s and some other hits…. after breakin up, singer Paul Heaton formed Beautiful South…. pretty good, but Housemartin’s were kinda better :D

Prefab Sprout were a late 80s pop-rock band that had some hits during that era as well…mostly “King Of Rock ‘n Roll” (I loved the music video of this song as well 8) ) Manhattan”, and ”Cars and Girls”

“London 0 Hull 4” and “From Langley Park to Memphis” would b my fav

After Human League’s 2 original members left da band…they formed Heaven 17. They were much better in my opinion, than Human League after “Dare”.

I liked almost every album of em, especially 1st 3 albums…. but my fav would be “How Men Are?”…a catchy synth-pop album with some jazz/soul influences…. A-side of this LP contained 5 of da best synth-pop songs from that era \O/

Also “Teddy Bear, Duke & Psycho” was really gr8…yet it was underrated as hell…it also had a really good closing ambient track, called “Slow All Over” J

All of these bands were fronted by Terry Hall (except AKA The Special, but still they were just a renamed version of The Specials…. so… )

The Specials/AKA The Special were a Ska/2-Tone band with “Ghost Town” being their most popular song basically…although this 1 was more reggae-ish than ska. Ma fav album by them would b their debut (although it was a 1979 album) but unfortunately it wasn’t as good as Madness’ debut album “One Step Beyond” though… :-/

Fun Boy Three were a new wave/reggae band with some gothic influences…in some of their songs they sounded very similar with The Cure…like 4 example in their most popular song “Tunnel Of Love” basically. Waiting would b ma fav album by them…and other songs I liked from this album would b “The More I See” and “Things We Do” ^_^

And The Colourfield (my personal fav among Terry Hall’s projects) were an indie pop/dream pop band and it was da band that pretty much defined Terry Hall’s solo works in 90s (in his album “Home” mostly)…”Thinking Of You” and “Castles In The Air” were da most popular songs of this project, and “Virgins and Philistines” would b ma fav album by them, and other songs that I liked would b “Hammond Song”,”Armchair Theatre”, and “Take” basically…. also they had 2 very good post-punk songs as well…. non-album single “The Colourfield” and b-side of “Thinking Of You” called “My Wild Flame”8)

Another 2 80s Scottish solo artists…

Ok, fairly good this guy…he had some good songs that resemble Italian/French pop of that era…after all his song “Reality” was included in the OST of the French film “La Boum” and it sounds very similar with Cook Da Book’s “Your Eyes” which was included in “La Boum 2” as well.

Bill Drummond (South-African born though) who was a member of the late 80s/early 90s acid house band KLF... strangely enough released a country-pop album in the mid-80s basically... o_O

Altered Images were sure 1 of the best new-wave acts with a female vocalist basically

Sure Clare Grogan’s vocals maybe sounded kinda “cheesy” or “girly” but truth is it worked fine with their music. Strangely they managed 2 have some success in New Zealand according 2 wikipedia!

My favorite record by them would b “Bite”…it had so many catchy pop tunes, featuring the singles “Bring Me Closer” and “Don’t Talk To Me About Love”…. but my pick would be “Bring Me Closer”…. especially the extended Dance Mix…. is sooooooo damn sexy!

The Associates were another new wave band of that era, featuring a darker and more experimental sound though…my personal favs would b “4th Drawer Down” (“Tell Me Easter’s On Friday” would b my fav song from this…an underrated post-punk classic…”Kitchen Person” and “Q Quarters” were very good as well)…or the more experimental “Sulk” featuring their biggest hit “Party Fears 2”

80s Scottish pop-rock/alternative rock bands active during the late 80s mostly. Most of them had some success during the 90s as well, especially Texas with their late 90s album “The Hush”

Although during the late 80s they were more of an alternative rock band basically, and not a pop-dance band…. mostly known 4 their song “I Don’t Want A Lover” back then…their album could b kinda better I guess, if most songs followed the same pattern as “I Don’t Want A Lover”

Deacon Blue would probably b my choice among those groups…I liked both of their 80s albums, especially “When The World Knows Your Name”…it had some hell of singles…. like “Wages Day”, ”Real Gone Kid” or “Fergus Sings The Blues”

Del Amitri released a mediocre debut, but they made it up with a much better 2nd album basically…pretty nice.

Soup Dragons…oh well, that would b my least favorite among the list, but I liked the band’s name basically…. LOL

Slide was a 1-album-band…. and they had only 1 minor hit back then, ”Why Is It a Crime?”.
Unfortunately the rest of the album, wasn’t as good as “Why Is It a Crime?” :-/

Scottish pop bands that they’d fall into the category “blue-eyed soul” basically

My favorites here would be Hipsway’s self-titled album and “Meet Danny Wilson”. Tbh I didn’t like Wet Wet Wet 2 much…. their music was kinda…..”wet” indeed, maybe they had some few good songs, but nothing more beyond that.. guess they could do better.

Wot is more disappointing though is, Hipsway’s and Danny Wilson’s 2nd albums…they were totally shitty. After their gr8 debuts…they lost all their creativity!! :-/
