Today, I had a one on one session with my boss. We usually have one every other week and we had to postpone after a month of not having one. She asked me questions like how I’m liking the job, what I like about my title and if I want training on anything/ feel unsure.

Brief recap, I have been an academic advisor at a college for 6 months. I’m new to higher education (this is my first real job). I started with someone else who was also a recent a college grad, older woman but was in real estate for years.

I told her that any time that I feel confident in a process, I end up needing clarification sometimes and may be unsure of what I’m doing. I also told her that I notice I tend to get corrected more/ ask more questions compared to the others.

She said that I may not be aware of what she and other advisors discuss AND I shouldn’t jump to the conclusion that they don’t get corrected. As in, I don’t hear when she addresses them to provide clarification. And jumping to these conclusions will cause me to second guess myself, which is exactly what I’ve been doing since I started.

She is one of my favorite bosses I’ve had and is approachable, I couldn’t ever approach another boss like this. I still don’t believe her, I feel like she’d keep me around even if I sucked. I don’t want her to think I’m crazy because I clearly lack confidence (I’ve spoken to her about my concerns before).

Am I overreacting?

Maria is 20 years old. She's a model and real-estate agent who is also very beautiful and she works out daily. She meets Marshall, a 18 year old high school dropout who's broke smd recently started community college. He tells her he'd take her to IHOP for a morning date. She turned him down. A year later, Marshall got a acting deal that gave him 30K a month. She asked him out, and even said she'd pay for their first date. Marshall agreed and they started dating. But Marshall still paid for almost everything.
