I've been seeing this man for a month and he is 20 years older. I'm getting some mixed signals and can't tell if he just doesn't want to have an official relationship, or if he's afraid that I would say no because of our age differences.

We've had sex already. Excellent sex. We don't text or call each other constantly (we're both busy), but he does make contacts daily to see how I'm doing and talk about his days. He talks about himself, his family, and his past with me. He cooks for me and takes care of me well when we are together (always checking to make sure I'm feeling alright). If someone calls when we're together, he lets me know who that is (except when it's his ex-wife, then he doesn't say anything). He'd leave me in his house sleeping while he goes out to run errand for like 2hrs.

He has mentioned a few times that he's old and I'd tell him that he's not "that old". He became quite uncomfortable one time when he asked me out of nowhere, "So how do you like hanging out with an old guy (him)?" I told him "it's good" and he started smiling and said he's young at heart and physically well, so he's younger than his age.

I get hit on a lot on the streets. I don't talk about that except when they're really crazy/stupid ones, he'd become quiet (appear upset) and recently he started telling me how people flirt with him or how popular he was when he's young as if he's telling me he's desirable.

He has told me we're more than just physical, but never went further to define what we really are. Recently when we're in bed after sex, he said he's very physical, and I teased him saying "Yea I know, you're just all about physical." And he said, "No, it's mental too." And I said, "like how's so?" He got uncomfortable, paused for a second, and tried to joke about it, "I'm in your head". And I said that only meant it's mental for me, not him. And he just said, "It's mental for me too. You crazy person."
So I'm confused. Does he just want something causal, or more?

I have been dating my boyfriend for 2.5 years. I am 20 and he is 8 years older (the age difference hasn't been an issue because our personalities and maturity levels are very similar). We get along so well. I have never had such fun being with another person.

I want to ask him if he wants to get married and have children and if so when, but I don't know how to bring this up without scaring him (movies have given me a bad image of how men react to these types of things). I am not asking if he wants to marry or have children with me or do it now, I just want to know if he hopes to do these things in general in the future. It is more of a curiosity thing on my part because those are both things I really want (not now, like 5-10 years from now) and he has said some things that make it seem like he may not want them. I just want to know if we both want the same things from life.

Is it okay for me to ask him and if so, how/when should I bring it up?

I'm talking about small age differences to very large age differences.

Starting from five years older to thirty years + over.

It's so common that you see older men wanting a younger woman, that I'm starting to wonder exactly how many like it the other way around?
