I've noticed some things about myself that make me wonder if I have commitment issues.

Family History: Mom and dad divorced when I was three. My mom has remarried *twice* (first step-dad left and the second passed away). My dad has remarried a very nice woman but he is a terrible husband (he has anger issues).

Relationship History: 1st boyfriend I ever had at 16 was very nice and liked me a lot but I broke it off with him after 9 months because I didn't see us to be very compatible. We got back together a year later for 7 months before I ended it again. 2nd boyfriend was my first love and we dated for 4 years before I ended it because he wanted to get married and I didn't. Since ending the relationship a couple months ago I've been casually dating with no intent on getting into another relationship until I feel ready.

Other fun facts about me: I've changed my college major 4 times and my career goals are constantly different. I'm inherently indecisive (or so they tell me) and take forever to pick out clothes or what I want at a restaurant. I have many friends but only one I tell all my secrets too.

Wow writing it all out really makes it seem rather obvious but maybe I'm just over analyzing things?

I dated a man last year for months. I really liked him and I obviously wanted to be with him. He liked me too but I always felt I was more serious about him than he was about me. In March I asked him straight out if he wanted a relationship with me and his answer was “I haven’t thought about it like that”. After that I knew I was wasting my time. That wasn’t the first time he had the chance to tell me he actually wanted to be with me. But it was the last time I was going to wait around for him.
He tried to contact me again after 2 weeks and I told him I was seeing someone and I was.
That is when he finally admitted he wanted a relationship with me. It took him losing me to admit he actually want to be with me. He has tried texting me multiple times but I have ignored him.

I came to the conclusion he didn’t want to be with me because he has commitment issues. If he really wanted to be with me he would have made it happen. He never would have let me go.
Last week he sent me a text saying he wants to be with me, and he wants us to commit to each other. He told me he misses me and he wants to see me.
Would you believe a man if he said this to you?

I’m hesitant and I told him I don’t believe him because his actions have shown me different. He said he would prove it to me if we hung out. He wanted to spend the day with me which he never wanted to do when we were dating.
I just ignored his request to hang out with me.
Do you think he’s being real? I honestly think if I did see him and I was with him he would just go back to treating me like an afterthought.
