You hear stories all the time of people who have just been completely nasty, hateful, rude, unforgiving bastards to their family their whole lives, but in their 9th hour, they suddenly grow a conscious and decide to apologize for all that they've done hoping for forgiveness.

Would you accept such an apology and forgive that person, or would you feel it was awfully convenient and insincere, that having done absolutely nothing up until that point to make amends or accept responsibility for their mistreatment of you, and then subsequently having to do nothing after, because they'll be deceased, they offered you an apology now.

It doesn't make sense that someone can do wrong to you or hurt you and it is advised for you to tell them " it's okay I forgive you☺️" like wtf Also a lot of times people aren't even sorry for the things they've done to you and somehow your left feeling uneasy even though THEY did something wrong to you. ! People say forget and forgive but it's hard to forget and forgiveness is something you have to learn. Because how could you possibly forget how bad or low someone made you feel? you never forget how much you cried over something someone had said to you or done to you. If I could forget how bad my ex made me feel after what he did I would. I swear. But 5 years later I sill hate him. I don't know I feel like it lets people get away with doing bad things with no consequences. Like what's the consequence for heartbreak and stuff? You can never really fix a heart you just learn to not reopen your wounds.

It's about a former US soldier who was tortured as POW (prisoner of war) by a Japanese during WWII. That Japanese solder was a translator and fluent in English.

Long story short, the guy met his chief tormentor 50 years later and forgave him (they actually became friends too). Personally, I would have beaten the crap out of him.
