Basically, the US hasn't really treated its interpreters during wars well. Back in Vietnam, the South Vietnamese supporters tended to be brought for asylum into our nation or aided in their moves elsewhere. Instead, with Iraq and Afghanistan and other wars we are seeing the US Government just dropping any support and leaving them there. Thousands have applied for a visa and very few have been approved and some who were approved had it revoked (in this case).

From what can be assumed with the current facts, it seems that the Taliban and Al'Qaeda finds out who these people are and then makes an anonymous call to the US government claiming the interpreters have connections to terrorism. That's enough to end the visa application right away without any real investigation because many of these interpreters have YEARS of aiding our troops in exemplary ways. The belief as to why this is happening is because those in power are afraid of "letting in the next 9/11 terrorist" and so they don't let any in. That kinda mentality is wholly unAmerican from how we were founded and only shows the Terrorists have won if we give into fear.
