Search Results: ending friendship

A friend of mine and I are taking a break from our friendship for a while, some things have been straining it a lot lately and it doesn't feel the same anymore. To me it feels like he just tags along with whatever, but doesn't initiate anything on his own. Like he's reluctant to actually keep the friendship alive at this point. It's somewhat understandable since he's quite busy right now but I've always felt like, if you truly care about a person, you will make time for them no matter what. And you'll actually initiate it on your own, and not let them do all the work for you. We've been friends for too long, it would hurt to throw all these years away for seemingly nothing, so we both agreed a break would be good.

I'm assuming we're talking about maybe 2-3 months or something. So, should I wait for him to contact me? He's the one with the problems initiating, so I think it would be a good "exercise" for him to actually revive the friendship for once, when that's all I've been trying to do already and I'm kind of exhausted.

Or should I contact him? I'm afraid that if I don't, our friendship will actually end since he might not take the initiative anymore. Like the break is not just a break, but an ending.
