Over the summer me and one of my close guy friends/coworkers dating for three months. He dumped me out of no where the week we started college then a month later had another girl. He was a lot more public with their relationship then with ours. When we dated he never tried to take a pic with me or acknowledge the fact that we were a couple. Which is one of the reasons I feel like if was just a fling and I didn't know it until after he dumped me. He broke up with the girl about two months ago and since then has been trying to go back to how things were with us before we started dating, cause after he dumped me he strung me along for a bit then started being jerkish. I gave up on trying to save our friendship when I found out he had a new girl one he actually called his girlfriend. My motto is to get revenge by killing them with kindness, so I've have been nothing but nice to him this entire time. At the same time I kept my distance by not texting him or having conversation with him alone. We have reestablish our friendship, dispite that fact that I don't trust him anymore cause he hurt me so bad. About a month ago he asked one of our friends if I was still dating "that guy" and she said he acted disappointed when she replied yes. (We recently broke up) We text now every so offend most of the time he texts me first. Last week was his bday so I got him a small gift that he would love and he hugged me for the first time ever. When we dating I was always the one that hugged him and he would hug me back out of response. While were at work we'll sometimes catch each others eyes and he'll smile at me and he always makes sure you said goodbye to me before we leave work which he never did before. Like he says bye and use one of my nicknames instead of bye guys or see you later. Is he just wanting to be best friends again or does he want me back? I never lost my feelings for him even when I hated him. I don't understand why, but I just can't get over him. It's stup

I met a guy a few months ago. He saw my instagram online and contacted me - we have a common friend. We chatted for a bit via messages - daily, he would send me a goodmorning / goodnight message and we got really close. We met in person and started dating. We fell for each other.
He is having problems with his ex wife - a financial dispute which may end up to court. He is a judge himself and wants to avoid going to court, as it would reflect badly on him. His kids are teenagers and sense that there tension between their mum and dad.

As a result of all of the above he's pushed me away... Just last Sunday we were together telling me that he does want me close to him and that I do fit into his life. That I am a good person and a quality woman. Him as a person he is very principled, and comes accross as a very genuine and sincere person... I guess, if he is not then he should be awarded an oscar as throughout the time we were dating / talking he made a genuine effort to please me, he would keep his word, remember what pleased me and treated me very very well... He only changed once the problems with his wife started and initially he told me that he felt that he did not have the emotional strength for me, but when we met I asked him not to push me away and he said he didn't want to, but didn't think he had the right to ask me to hang around... I said I would be patient...

Throughout the week, he's been very quiet. I sent him a message asking him for his news and he responded the next day saying:
