So I like a guy. We've been seeing each other for a year. He travels, I travel, so we call each other a lot. I've only had to call a handful of times because he's good about calling when he has time. If we're busy... well, we're busy.

Now I'm reprimanded by friends who saw me smile and pick the phone up when he called. The criticism? That I get SO happy and snap the phone right up, making myself too available for him. I should, according to them, purposely miss a few calls every so often.

This makes no sense to me. There are, of course, days where I DO miss a call and I contact him so we catch up later. I'm criticized for this too. If he's interested, he will apparently bother calling me back.

This also makes no sense to me. If he called and I missed his call, isn't it simply polite to call him back? It's "my turn" to call back...

Maybe I just have old fashioned standards?
