I have been with my fiancé for four years. We live together and have a child together. I plan on spending my life with him but I know I'll never be truly as happy as I could be. Here's why. In the four years of being with him he has never once given me a complement. At least nothing more than a "I like that shirt".
It bothers me! A lot! I feel so ugly! The thing is I'm a hairstylist and with my profession I talk to a lot of men. Many of which have straight up told me a beautiful. So why can't the man I'm spending my life with tell me that?
I tried the whole hint at it thing... Nothing. So then I grew a pair and straight up told him what was bothering me. (This was about a year into the relationship) he said he just wasn't the type of guy who said things like that. It embarrassed him or something. I believed him for a while until one day I saw a few Facebook messages he had written to random women friends of his, telling them how attractive they were. Using words like you are so gorgeous and looking good. I didn't confront him right away because I'm just not that type of girl. Instead I let it fester. Wrong choice. Several weeks later I finally told him I saw those messages. He was more angry at me for snooping than anything. He did apologize though and swore it wouldn't happen again. And for some reason I accepted his apology.
I didn't bring up that situation again until a year later when we got in a relatively big fight. During the corse of the fight I told him that it still bothers me that he has never given me a complement. He said it bothered him that I "constantly" complain about that. Constantly? Constantly? Really I'd rarely said anything compared to how it felt inside. Well the fight blew over and I haven't said anything since. But I do still think of it. And now that I am a stay at home mom / daycare provider I'm not seeing my male hair clients anymore. Therefore I'm not getting any kind of complements and my self esteem is dwindling. Help!

I met this guy we are co workers we started hanging out about 3 months ago and then last month he asked me out . I thought everything was going good until out of the blue he told me he was guilty because he was checking out a girls ass at work . I laughed and said it wasn't a big deal. Then he said he prefered being friends and staying the same (hanging out , cuddling, sex ) he said he didn't want to give it a title yet just to see if we could grow into it . He also stated that he couldn't date me because he was being promoted to manager . He said I was a special girl not like anyone else his ever met and that he didn't want to hurt me. That I was a beautiful flower and that other girls his been with were the mud. His helped me out a lot in life and thanks to him I was able to finally cut connection with me ex (we broke up about a year ago) he also commented that he wasn't able to take me out because he was short on money since his paying for school and his own place. I told him I didn't care about any of that stuff . Should I continue being friends with benefit do I have hope or should I just cut connection and move on
