I'll be brief, I met her a few months ago (Were in the same uni hall) and thought she was cute. Gradually over time I got to know her and turns out we do have similar interests. A few weeks back she broke up with her boyfriend, which I didn't know until I bought her a late Birthday present which she thanked me for and gave me a big hug which I can't remember her giving any hugs to the other guys we both know. She told me she had just broken up and that I had made her happier. Now for the last couple of nights, I've been up late cooking in the kitchen (Were both night owls) and for the last couple of nights we have bumped into each other and started chatting about stuff. Like bring up her past relationships and me talking about me relationship past, talking about games, having a laugh and laughing at things I said, and she has complimented my art a few times too. Last night, towards the end of our conversation a flat mate came in with a friend and the friend gradually started asking her weird and kinda insulting questions about stuff other flat mates have said about her to him, which she took well but she kept glancing in my direction I assume to see my reaction. When I said I was going to my room, she made a point of also going to her room too. She also seems to go back to her room whenever I leave to go to bed. As far as I can see, these things could be interpreted friendly acts or signs she is interested, not sure what to think.

- She always used to show flirty playful signs towards me and also lightly mock me etc. When I ignored her for a bit once she did a really shy smile then we had a long chat and when we parted ways she really smiled with her eyes.
- so I asked her by text if she wants to meet for a drink and mentioned a bar I know she likes.
- She then replies “Adam mentioned we should go to the other bar down the road before it closes at the end of the month but you probably already went there with Ben?”
- I then say that’s a good idea & she blanked it so I said it would be good to go as a group and called her a sister.
- next time I saw her in person at a group meet, she was being happy with others and avoiding me. She became quiet when I was nearby and avoided eye contact with me, looking upset when I made eye contact. Asked if she was ok & she said why I am a bit tired. Then she became a bit better but still looked uncomfortable. train home was awkward with just us 2. I gave her a birthday card and she was happy. The card called her a sister.
- then at another social, I avoided her but she kept looking at me. When we spoke, she was happy again but then I made eye contact with her and she flinched.
- next time I saw her she went back to what happened before - avoiding me, talking to others and when I tried to talk to her looking unhappy. When getting train home, she went to shops first and mutual friend said to me “did she run away because she doesn’t want to get the train all the way with you?” And even asked her when she returned. She turned the question to me & said “I thought you were getting the other train until I said I’m getting this one. When we were alone on the train, was awkward. She pretended everything was ok but I could see the discomfort in her eyes.
- I know she’s afraid of being gossiped about. I told her I only see her as a friend. She became happy again. Although it’s always been a bit awkward ever since. I don’t think she cares as much when I avoid her.
