I mean the jealousy in a relationship. E. g. a guy trying to flirt with someone's girlfriend and that someone becomes jealous.

I automatically connect it with confidence because for me being defensive and jealous needs a lot of confidence. When someone is trying to flirt with someone's s/o and he interferes telling the guy to stop and shit or when a guy tries hard to make eyecontact and the boyfriend just gives him that dangerous look, is something I won't expect from an insecure man. It takes balls to show the competitive nature directly and it's pretty hot and masculine.

The only way I might connect jealousy to insecurity is when it becomes toxic (I call it toxic jealousy) e. g. directed to the girl > the girl is not allowed to go anywhere etc. That's where I might think he is afraid to lose her to someone else thus he is insecure.

LONG STORY SHORT: I’m in an abusive relationship his ex beats up any girl he tries to talk to we met at work. We started off as hook up. Me to get away from my abuser ( feel stuck) him I guess he felt lonely. He didn’t care at first and then we would start arguing like couples do and he’d be mean id be mean however we never stopped talking. We work together by the way. So he’d get drunk tell me he wanted me to be his id say I wanted him to be mine but when brought up sober he’d deny deny deny. So I’d deny but I secretly had feelings for him. So we went out downtown and he called me baby in front of a group of guys because they were looking at me. I finally the next day asked about why he called me that and he denied denied and then I asked him again during text and told him to chill out about being so defensive because I liked it which he replied with “ mhmmmhm” which he not replies like that when he has nothing to say but wants to say something. After this incident he starts to look scared of me acting nervous not looking me in the eye and kinda avoiding me but still trying to get my attention at the same time. So then I asked if he cared about my situation and he said “ why did u want me to care, cause I don’t” but I could tell he did. Next day he kept bringing up my abusive boyfriend and kept asking why haven’t I left yet. And what I’m waiting for. I then tell him I’d rather be with him which he turned around looked very shyly and said “ well your still with him so...” and tried to his whatever he was feeling ( he can’t express his emotions well we’ve talked about it) now he’s acting EXTREMELY ODD now and awkward and shy. Why is this?

My best friend found out that I knew that her boyfriend was cheating on her. He had told me after I questioned him because I think he was trying to get me to tell her so she wouldn't just find out on her own. I had tried to warn my best friend in the past with her previous ex years before that he was no good, and she completely got defensive and told me to mind my business (because she knew it was true... hence the break up shortly after).

This time around, I was like, okay, minding my business, and didn't say a word, and she flipped out after the idiot said to her that I knew about it. We came to verbal blows over it, and I told her she couldn't have it both ways... either I warn her of danger and she listens to me, or I'm going to take the hands off approach she told me she wanted. We didn't talk for a long while after that but have since made up as friends, however, we have never really re-addressed the elephant in the room. Do you think you're obligated to tell your best friend their SO is cheating on them?
