Chinese rhetoric and action towards Taiwan has massively increased over the last few days in the wake of the continuing utter disaster going on in Afghanistan. They have conducted live fire exercises near Taiwan (very unusual even for China) and have full military readiness in all strategic positions preparing for full invasion of Taiwan. They have amped up the rhetoric to maniacal levels. And constantly threatening Taiwan and daring the U. S. to act.
Some talking heads believe the U. S. will let China take Taiwan without a fight. I am not sure such people are aware of the actual history of Taiwan and why its so important. But, sure its possible.
But what this means for you... the 'Instagram needs a new picture of me doing...' Is that ALL complex microchip production is done in Taiwan. 100% of complex chips are made in Taiwan and 94% of all microchips are made there. It means, the next iPhone 12 or 13 will be inaccessible or extremely expensive.

Well, I don't know if the talking heads are right. This statement was made 8/18/2021 during an unaired portion of the president's interview with Stephanopoulos:

"We have made– kept every commitment. We made a sacred commitment to Article Five that if in fact anyone were to invade or take action against our NATO allies, we would respond. Same with Japan, same with South Korea, same with– Taiwan. </b>It’s not even comparable to talk about that."

So at this time, The U. S. is sticking with Taiwan in a 'sacred' alliance. We'll see when China invades Taiwan, whether or not that's just a paper tiger. But it's scary shit...
