I was going into a park one night to meet with some friends and smoke some weed and when I got there, I yelled "Where The White Women At?" because I knew one of the two friends that were supposed to be there would be bringing his white girlfriend. I thought I recognized his voice when I heard a yell back saying "Shut Up", so I started jogging in the direction of the sound where I thought I would meet my friends at a bench.

In the dead of the night, this shirtless dude with long poofy hair looking high or drunk as shit came out of some bushes, charging with what looked like murderous intent.

I thought like, well fuck is this really how it ends for me? That's it? I was unarmed and my eyes widened, I stopped in my tracks and put my fists up, thinking I was about to get into the bad end of an altercation.

Then the guy stops and pivots to my right at a walking pace saying "That's right, don't never run up on me like that" or some shit, and evidently he thought he was the one being targeted or jumped. I was confused so I was just like "What? No, I'm meeting some friends here, one of them has a white girlfriend that's why I yelled!" and we smoothed it over as a misunderstanding.

I was surprised I didn't just run away or froze up in shock, even if I was not thinking it would not turn out well I was happy with myself that I stood my ground preprared for the worst case scenario.

It's not the most interesting story but it got me interested in the fight or flight response.

Being honest with what you know about yourself or your past, do you think you respond to dangerous situations with flight or more fight? Or do you worry you might freeze up in that kind of case?

I was living in an apartment complex. I'm on the second floor and there are 9 rooms per floor.
One night at 1am, while I was tucked in nice and warm and thinking about sex,
I heard a woman screamed.
This was followed by what appears to be a struggle. One of my neighbors yelled "Why don't you leave her alone" after 5 minutes from inside his room.
Then... it went silent.
"Peace at last" I whispered to my imaginary girlfriend. I continue to tuck myself in nicely.

Suddenly after about 10minutes the screams and noises return.

I say to Lucy (my igf) "oh man, the guy who called out earlier is going to be soooo mad". After 5 minutes everything went silent again.

I slept until morning.
I was thinking maybe should've at least called the cops or something.

We all heard the commotion because I'm the furthest from the staircase and I can hear it.

One of the neighbors must've called the cops or open the door. Especially the guy that yelled earlier.

Plus I was naked too. I had to put on some clothes and that would've taken 5 minutes. I would be too late. I'm sure someone open the door and saw to it. It was probably a couple arguing anyway.

I think someone could be hurt but was my response proper?
