male coworker and I have been staring at each other for a while. It feels like we’re always observing each other, but he doesn’t make it a huge point to talk to me so I’m worried maybe I’m just a placeholder for his boredom or something. For a while, he was saying hi and coming up to my desk, but he stopped that and now he just stares. Usually, when I catch him, he looks away very quickly. But sometimes he holds it, like at the company Christmas party he just held my stare from across the room..

Last Friday, we happened to be walking in the same direction so finally we were able to talk. At one point we were in the elevator together and he was pretty obviously flirting with me. Up until this point he seemed shy so I was caught off guard by this.. It was like he was a completely different person when we were alone. He was grinning super wide and talking in a low voice, even though we were just discussing the weather. Also his eye contact was intense and I definitely blushed. It was really “heavy” with tension, and it felt like he was doing it on purpose.

But yesterday and today, it’s back to normal. It’s the staring at me and looking away quickly thing. It’s the searching eye contact, like he’s trying to figure something out. But I was blushing and flirting back on the elevator so I feel like he knows I like him.

Also today was Valentine’s Day and he didn’t even look at me.

So, in your opinion, does he genuinely like me? Or is it some kind of game?
