So lately I've been crushing on a friend of mine that I've known for a year or so. I use to like him when I first met him but I pushed those feelings down because I realized nothing was ever going to happen. Then comes this year and for some reason we started talking more, and I started to like him again. I dismissed this again until one day we hung out. It started out normal, but ended up with both of us having sex. Since then (that was a few weeks ago) my feelings for him have been more intense, and I waited a bit to see if it was just because of the sex or if it was more than that. Turns out it was more than that. He didn't know and we already had become friends-with-benefits before I realized I was emotionally attached when we jumped into this. Eventually, in I'd say a few days, he found out that I liked him but he said he couldn't do a relationship right now because he's planning his future already and he needs to focus on his education (also because it demands him too).

So the question now becomes should I back out now, or stay and see if something else could come out of it? Because from this he has opened up to me more, and he drops (not so clear hints) her and there, as well as showing that he cares more about me than a fwbs should (I'm guessing they only have sex, and after that they go their ways).
