Search Results: forgive cheating girlfriend

Recently had a friend who found out her boyfriend cheated on her a few days ago. She broke up with him and got back with him 3 days later saying 'it's okay, he promised he won't cheat on me again'. Full and utter bullcrap.

Would you forgive or break up with him/her?

My best friend said if he found out his girlfriend cheats on him he'll break up with her, not giving her reason to explain.
I guess everyone deals with being cheated on differently.

I have been an unlimitedly selfless, thoughtful, generous, forgiving, patient girlfriend who has accepted all flaws despite everything. So many huge gestures have been done on my part. I have made massive sacrifices for this man. So if I find out he's even cheating, I just may honestly overstep physical boundaries just as he carelessly overstepped emotional boundaries.
I consider spitting in his face so he can physically feel how disgusting he is. Then I would punch him hard so he can have no choice but to feel the same heartwrenching pain and violation he has caused me.
Is this all crazy and backwards? What are your thoughts on a situation like this?

We've been dating for over almost 3 years. A couple of days ago he told me that he had cheated on me last summer with a friend of his. He was sleeping with her for 2 weeks and his excuse was that he thought he was losing me and went to find affection elsewhere. We had a pretty good relationship, but I suffer from depression and sometimes I shut down and am not able to express my feelings to him and he always take it hard and feels like he's less of a man because he can't make me happy. He claims to feel like he was losing me and then he realized how much he loved me and broke things off with her. I am furious, but at the same time I am very much in love with him. I know I have my own issues that I'm working on, but I never thought he would cheat on me. He was always worried about me cheating because I go to school with my ex and we ended on good terms over 8 years ago and remained we're friends. Which is why this is so infuriating. I trusted him wholeheartedly and now I feel like if we were to stay together, then I would become one of those paranoid girlfriends who checks her boyfriends phone whenever he goes to the bathroom. He's had female friends and I was never worried about them, now I don't feel comfortable with having any female friends. Also the girl he cheated on me with was the best friend of his best friend and I don't even feel comfortable with him being friends with the guy anymore. I'm so confused I love him and at the same time want to pound his face in. Any advice would be very appreciated..

I say almost, because we never really dated... we liked each other but then he met someone else and stopped talking to me so it was really awkward. It felt like he'd led me on. We recently had a good long talk and cleared things up and I've forgiven him, (he said he had to let me go to keep from hurting me, because he's cheated in the past and was trying to change) and now we want to try and be friends. He has a girlfriend, so it will be an interesting friendship, especially since we don't want to get too close or I might become a temptation/rekindle old feelings...

Would you be friends with him after that if you were in my shoes?
