It is very common to hear that many men prefer women who are natural in appearance. Often that is accompanied by saying "no makeup." In my experience, many of those men who have provided pictures of "examples" show women who are, in fact, wearing makeup -- but to someone who is generally unfamiliar with cosmetics, it is understandable that they would miss the signs of application. (And just to mention this... sometimes the "lightest" use of makeup actually turns out to be heavy use that is skillfully layered and blended).

Because of that, I believe that most men mean that they like makeup that isn't noticeable; that enhances certain features or hides blemishes.

But for those who staunchly proclaim otherwise, that they in fact do prefer a total bare face... are you being honest? Even just in regards to clarity of skin (from scars, acne, blackheads, unneven skintone and redness), I can see people turning away. I personally believe that people should embrace their natural state, "imperfections" and all (but I also fully support those who decide that their way of embracing themselves is through the expression of makeup).

I'm not the type to introduce myself to strangers since I'm shy but this guy is cute and he kept looking at me on day 1... but I got self conscious thinking he was looking a lot at my little acne scars (it's slightly noticeable but not too bad I guess since guys still hit on me)

Anyways I only talked to him once to ask what the page number was and he seemed nice but kinda shy. I don't sit near him usually but in lab there's groups so it's not like I can start talking to him.

Anyways I usually give up on my fellow shy guys because they never step up to the plate even when I'm the one always initiating the convo (they do keep the convo going which is great but still). So maybe I shouldn't even try? (Hopefully he's single of course)
