A couple days before the prom she went cold on me. She told a friend she didn't want to date me. We had a good time at prom but something was a little different. She was reserved and more quiet for some of the time. The rest she was fine

After prom i told her i liked her a lot as a friend and sometimes a little more. Not as really asking her out but to just let her know how i felt.

Since then she has been hot and cold. Sometimes she seems to be coming around & giving signs again. Sometimes she acts more distant

A conversation we had in a group chat tonight confused me and I don't know how to respond to it: Friends were talking ablut driving I said i would only drive with her in the car cause i didn't want anything to happen to someone i actually care about (Ik its mean this is the sort of stuff we joke about all the time)

She responded “funny thats not what you said a couple weeks ago” (I assume she would be referring to what we said at prom)

I said i dont remember and asked if she could remind me and she changed the subject and let the moment go.

We hung out in a group the next day and she seemed pretty normal. She would make eye contact, laughing at all my jokes, smiling, etc. She was flirting a lot with one of my friends for most of the night, and I also flirted with these two other girls a little bit, so I don't know what to think.

So should i text her about this (alone) and see whats going on. Is she trying to find out if i still like her or angry for some reason? I don't know whats going on?

- She was always smiley, flirty and close to me. Like touching to get my attention or throwing things at me, taking things from me, choosing to talk to me over others in a group etc.
- Then when I was avoiding her in a shy way and hinted I like her, she did a really shy smile. It was in a group but when we parted she did a big smile and waved. She said “I want to be on the left” and her best friend said to her “you just want to be on the left of him.”
- She had always been shy about doing things with me alone making excuses up to this point.
- I then messaged to ask her for a drink at a pub she likes and she replies that Tom mentioned going to x before it closes which we did go to. But she was awkward in person avoiding me. Although it’s worth noting in the texts I called her a friend. I don’t know if that was what made it awkward. Giving her a card calling her a friend did same thing
- she became less awkward in person when I said I don’t see you as anything more than a friend after implying her best friend told me She likes me. She got mad at her friend though & said I don’t know why she’s saying that when she knows I’m not interested in dating.
- following this, she started months of texting me persistently and suggesting things we can do together and we ended up meeting weekly.
- She seemed to get annoyed whenever I call her a friend or mate.
- when around her best friend, she likes to jokingly insult me. She’s likes being around me but when she sees her looking at us and laughing, she distances herself.
- recently I called her a close friend and she started making excuses about meeting. Then I questioned her about it and she seemed to be upset. We started avoiding each other and it was awkward although I could see she wanted to try and make things better too. I tried too by for example taking a long way home for her ( she’d Said she likes before) but think I overcompensated and she felt awkward.
- she has a tendency to get close then distant from me.

I believe love is like a muscle - we're all born with a certain level to start off with, some more than others, but if you exercise it, it will develop. However, just like muscles, if you don't use love (whether you refuse to use it, shy of it) it will become weak. To the point where your heart can become so distant from love you can hate the idea of love. People who love love, will continue to exercise it. Just like people who like their muscles will continue to work out. In both scenarios you will still experience pain, but it will make you stronger.

My exgirlfriend dumped me for my insecurities. I was always messaging her wanting a play by play of what she was doing. I always wanted to see her everyday. Always wanted her to sleep over. If we didn't see eachother, I got upset. If she didn't sleep over, I got upset. If she took more than an hour to reply, I got upset and would message again (double message). I would even puppy follow her when we were together always behind her. Always touching her (hand holding, hand on leg, etc). Finally, it became too much and she dumped me. We tried working things out a few times since, but my insecurities would come back and she would push away and end up blocking me. Now, I am blocked except on text. She is overseas in Denmark on vacation and with the time difference we really only talk once a day (if even). Her messages are short and kind of distant (even cold). I am working on rebuilding respect before I move on to attraction (flirting). I am meeting with a therapist today to discuss my issues; do I tell my ex? Would that better the situation or worsen?
