Search Results: birthday present

For my kids birthday, i gave them an experience of taking them to see their grandparents, aunts and uncles and cousins and threw a family only party with beach trips and a jumping house. This cost me around 2 grand. Plane tickets, food and ofcourse the party cost money.

For Christmas, i am buying them each 20-30 presents. This cost me around 500.

So, what would you choose? Stuff or experiences?

If yes, how did you handle it?
If no, how do you think you would handle it.

I had two guys fight over me in elementary school. Both of them would argue over who could sit next to me on the bus, so I took turns sitting with them. I'd sit next to Patrick one day and then Matt the next. They would also argue over who got to give me birthday/Christmas/Valentine's presents first. I only liked them as friends, but I thought it was kinda nice that they both liked me so much.

It was my cousins birthday party and I bought her band merch and lots of other gifts that she absolutely loved.

My other aunt (not my cousins mum) made the remark ''My daughter (my other cousin) told you what to get and gave you the ideas for the gifts''.

I know my aunt was trying to make herself look good because my cousin didn't react as happily to the gifts my aunt had bought her. So she basically tried to have her daughter take credit for mine!

She basically gave credit for my gift ideas to her daughter in front of everyone! Trying to say they were her idea. I was very upset as I'd put a lot of thought, money and effort into picking out those presents and my aunt basically believes my other cousin had the idea and I just bought and paid.

I take pride in my ability to pick gifts and I like to be given credit for picking out the perfect gift for people. Is this wrong?

I basically left the party without comment but the next time I see my aunt should I make it clear they were my ideas? So I can stop thinking about this! Or shall I just leave it be and let her think whatever she wants. At least I know they were my idea!
