Everytown for Gun Control, a Michael Bloomberg organization, has been putting progressively increased pressure on the Kroger Corporation to ban the carrying of firearms in their stores.

After perceived victories at a handful of other national chains including but not limited to Starbucks, Sonic, Target and Panera Bread, Everytown for Gun Control has set its sights on Kroger and it's wholly-owned companies Harris Teeter and Fry using the same tactics. I say "perceived victories" because the companies that have "banned" guns in their stores have released statements requesting guns not be brought into their establishments but have not taken the proper steps legally make themselves gun-free zones and a couple have even gone so far as to say the request will not be enforced in their press release. So far, Kroger has stood its ground, Everytown activists have been kicked out of their stores for political demonstrations and paid activists who have delivered petition signatures to stores have had the signatures refused by local managers.

I guess we'll see if Kroger has what it takes to refuse to change their policy indefinitely.
