I have so many interests that I would love to study or participate in, but doing/studying/getting better at any of those things feels like a waste of time. It feels like a waste of time because I have to conform to society. I have to go to school, and I have to be "somebody." or else I am just an outcast, a loser. I feel like there is so much pressure on me to "make it" in this world that I can no longer concentrate on making time for myself. I used to be a very happy person, laughing, doing things that I loved to do. Now I just feel like a drone walking listlessly through my day to day motions. The only things that really make me happy now are my day dreams. Thinking about what I would love to do or love to be able to do. but I can't do them. I have been in school since I was a child of course, and I am in my mid twenties with 2 college diplomas, no social life, and now attending university. But through all these yearsI have not experienced what "life" is. experiences make a human being, not education and a job or career. I have no part of my life thati can look at and say, "I do this, and I love it!" and lately I feel myself being pulled in so many different directions because I don't want to sit and study a subject that I don't care about, I want to get up and do something that I love. I want to play guitar and make music, I want to go play a sport or pick up skateboarding again, I want to be fulfilled and happy. I don't mind working, I have had the same part time job for almost 10 years. The job I have requires certifications and recertifications. But I feel drained, depleted, almost mechanical. and I feel like I am going crazy thinking about what I need to get done, feeling hopeless like all my schooling, if I complete university will be for nothing because I will lose what makes me, me. What about you? what do you do? have you been able to turn your interests into a career? how did you do that? Thanks!
