I’m starting college in a few days and I have a fear that I might overdress because I heard that most people wear jeans and a tee or leggings and a hoodie. I on the other hand, like to dress up but I don’t know if the way I dress would be considered overdressed or make it look like I’m trying too hard. I’ll give a summary of the kinds of outfits I normally wear:
-Basic solid coloured tee or turtleneck tucked into straight leg jeans, heeled doc martens, matching belt, and matching jewelry (a necklace or bracelet)
-tight fitted solid top (not revealing) with soft pants/paper bag style/palazzo pants, and neutral block heels (small heel) or leather sneakers, and maybe some dainty jewellery
-dressier top or blouse with jeans/jeggings, and Chelsea boots

I don’t overdo my makeup or hair, I just keep my hair in its natural wave, and for makeup I just wear tinted moisturizer, blush, brow pencil, mascara, tinted lip balm, and maybe some thin eyeliner.

Does my style seem too over the top for college?

#1 I have since ironed the shirt, so don’t worry about the wrinkles... I’m just asking about tights 😊
(Btw maroon looks really bad on me)

I know black tights are always an option, but sometimes it can feel too severe as well as add a rocker vibe I’m not necessarily aiming for. Shoes are black ATM.

#2 If I wear an open sweater, should it pair with the tights or skirt?
(assuming the skirt and tights match, but are different colors)

Partial pics bc I’m not trying to model my body~ I just want to know if the clothing is OK or a “no no” For just walking around in a casual setting. Mainly Tourists and families around.

Recently while on a small road trip to deliver furniture to a friends grandmother, I got stranded for a few days outside the city. Car broke down , the mechanics had to order parts, fixed the first problem but caused a second, car Broke down again, and the buses were sold out.

As I hadn’t planned the trip , I had no clothing. As I already have way too Much clothing at home ~ bc I live really close to cool thrift shop where I can get entire outfits for a $~ I was not interested in paying tons of money on over priced clothing. After some pice meal shopping , I was able to find boys t shirts and a pair of cut off jeans and some black tights ( to cover my bruises.) So obviously Nothing amazing. I think it’s bland and boring , but it was simple and cheap and would fit easily in my bag so I could wash my other clothing.

Now as you can see despite the poor quality of the pics~ sorry it’s night time. You can still you can see I’m completely covered ALL over... But still I felt REALLY uncomfortable.. At the mechanics , at the bus station, at the check in center in the motel, at the park, even at the friendly grocers ~ basically EVERYWHERE I went.

Now I know objectively ~ I was out of the city , so I might have just looked a bit out of place

~The whether had cooled down, but maybe wearing tights just seemed really weird and plus I had black sun glasses on, which combined with black maybe can be alarming, I don't know

So.. realistically , it could have been any of these facts that caused uncomfortable unwanted attention.. but I’m thinking maybe ~ it’s just slutty (?)

One of my best friends I've known since kindergarten wants to see if we can get a place together and she's dead serious about it. I mean I do too and all that kind of stuff but I heard that's hard to live on your own these days. Plus I'm in college right now and I do work on weekend which is not enough. My best friend said after I graduate and stuff we can get a place together. My brothers and my dad told me that living with your best friends a bad idea and you guys may end up fighting too much and get tired of each other. Well that's their opinion because my best friend I never get tired of each other and we never had a lot of fights. Okay maybe a couple of fights which is kind of stupid and silly butt there's nothing to fight about. My dad said I could do it I mean he's not stopping me what I want to do but it's better to save friendship and not live with each other. Neither right there or brothers lives with her best friend. No do you agree or disagree and why? Don't just give me an answer just give me a reason why. I disagree because my best friend and I are like tight and we'll never get tired of each other all but they'll be times that I'll need some space and she'll need space.
I told her that it may be a while until I get some money together to pay rent but she said I'll be looking for free. She been asking if I want to live with her and her mom. It would be great, but who lives for free?
