Search Results: getting her a christmas gift

I've had the Hai Classic Convertible since 2009, I got it half off during the Christmas time and I already had a gift card, so it was a steal! It's normal market price is about 60-80 (it was 80 at the time), and I got it for 38 :) It was the first professional flat iron I've ever owned and I love it.

The issue is... it's kind of getting old. I can tell that its going to die soon. It also damages my hair a little more than I would like and the color on the plates are coming off.

I was thinking I'd buy myself the Solia Tourmaline Ceramic Ion. I was thinking of getting a CHI, but it doesn't have a heat setting and I have fine, curly hair-- I don't nee 450 degrees to get it straight. The Solia is $60 and is apparently better than the CHI and almost as good as the Sedu (which is too expensive). All the reviews I've watched have said its gentle on hair, its long lasting, and really worth it.

So I'm debating whether to get it or not. Money is always an issue with me, but I do have some to spare and I straighten my hair often. In the end, it is only 60, with free shipping.

aside from this being a major "First World Problem," how do you feel when someone out does your gift?

For us college kids, holiday gifts are exchanged the days just before winter break, which in my case was anytime before the 16th.

I ordered my boyfriend an awesome scarf with the logo of his favorite soccer team (because he loves scarfs) and some funny boxers with an Irish theme because he's really in tune with his Irish roots and looks great in green lol. I ordered them both way too late, so even though they are getting there way before Christmas, I can't get them to him! The last two parts of my gift to him included something only he'll ever hear of and my favorite cologne for men (DG light blue YUMMY).

So before break I gave him the cologne and told him that when we get back in January he'd get his other gifts. He loved his gift and hadn't gotten me anything yet (which was fine by me since I asked him not to get me anything), so the next day he comes over with a big bag off awesome things -_-

He got me this REALLY expensive looking bracelet and watch AND a freaking cashmere scarf.

I love his gifts, I REALLY do.. its just that they are seriously the nicest things I've ever owned and my gifts don't even hold a candle to what I got him :(

Since he isn't getting half of his gift until January, should I get him more things? I don't know how this gift giving stuff works. I know it sounds stupid, but I rarely got gifts growing up so I have no idea how this sort of thing works ><
