May 2011, I’m not a violent or evil person. I oppose the death penalty.

But I remember that exact moment of hearing the news, I was in my car and had to pull over because I couldn’t see the road. My tears were flowing uncontrollably, tears of relief and all of these other emotions I didn’t even know that I had been holding onto.

You know that it’s not over... it’s never over. I never thought we would find him. I wasn’t even hoping for it.

But it felt right, like a million bricks lifted off my back.
