Hey guys,

I'm a computer programming student. I've recently been very interested in educational & learning games for kids. I want to make an evolution game that revolves around hosts and parasites.

It'll be something like Pandemic II's interface, and I already have a good idea of the upgradable traits for both types of organisms.

The goal of the game is to survive, and do better than either other hosts or parasites.

The host organism's survival strategy is based on efficiency and productivity. In order to survive, they will need ways to resist the cold or heat, immunity from illness, be good at finding and managing resources such as food and water among others, and being able to fight off other hosts in the event of competition.

The parasite's survival strategy is based on attachment. In order to survive, they will need to first attract a host and then attach themselves to a host. The better they are at attracting a host, and more difficult they are to be removed from the host will improve their chances of surviving. This means more upgrades on appearance, smell and even taste.

The pros of being the host is that they are pretty much independent. The major con to being the host is that it's very risky and a lot of hard work being responsible for your own survival, with the possibility of having a parasite attach itself to you that will only make the game that much harder.

The pros of being the parasite is that it's not as risky and it's significantly easier to feed off of a host rather than be responsible for your own survival. The major cons is dependency on a good host, and competition from other parasites. The most challenging part of the game would be being able to attract a good host and then being able to successfully attach yourself to the host as best as possible so it's difficult for the attachment to break (evolution traits will help with this). On top of that, other parasites would also want to pick the same good host to attract and attach themselves to, so a parasite would have to both invest in evolution traits that make them more attractive to a host and better at attaching to a host; as well as significantly unlikely that the host will break free.

I just wanted some input on game-play suggestions or evolution trait suggestions for each class.

Also curious which one people would prefer to play as.
