I feel absolutely sick over this. This girl I had been talking to for 14 months that I met off this promotional number that Sweden's tourist agency put on for people to be interested in the country had invited me to visit her there. We've talked like 150+ hours on Skype over this period of time and I told my mom about it a few weeks ago and first shot it down.. then I booked something because everything was getting too expensive and at first she wasn't a fan but sort of accepted it, then the next few days she went absolutely BALLISTIC on me demanding that I cancel it. Just the absolute most insane excuses.. like that I have no idea who these people are and could just be lying or conning me, what kind of people would invite someone to stay with them who they don't know, that no one ever would go and do something like stay with people they don't know, that I could be catfished, not picked up at the airport, kidnapped/tied up, robbed, murdered... things like "with everything going on in the world" and "you hear horror stories all the time", etc. I gave even more details than I wanted to give and made no difference.

She was guilt tripping me saying she couldn't sleep and was feeling sicker (and is recovering from a surgery and wants to be back at work by the beginning of next month), and then told my brothers awkward details to make it even worse for me and threatened to tell my grandparents too which is even MORE awkward. I'm still living at home sadly because I am having a hard time getting opportunities, but I do have a decent source of income and can afford my own trip and student loans and such. That doesn't matter apparently. I was afraid if I just defied it the sort of sh**storm that would be created, but I feel AWFUL now. There are still a few affordable options to go (but less ideal times) and this is just wrong of her. I'd have a great experience and her paranoia has to ruin it for me? Wrong.
