In a LOT of anime, the characters either react in a Tsundere manner when complimented and being called cute, or as a super shy character, often finding difficulty talking to the person who called them cute.
Another thing in anime is the HEAVY blushing.

So I am making this post to see how similar and realistic these traits are by asking people how they behave when faced with this scenario.

I also will agree that it depends on the person who gives that said compliment as it will affect you differently depending on who it is.

I myself become shy about it when a girl older than me says this but if it is a girl who is younger than me, I take the compliment and compliment them back.

If a guy calls me cute, I often have to determine if the word is meant in the complimenting or mocking way, either way I don't get awkward about it :)

I have been told by others that I blush easily at many things though, so it is probably hard for people to decide if I am embarrassed about something or just captivated about something super cute or overwhelmed by the compliment I was given :D

I’ve known this woman for years. She’s a couple years older than me. When she was a school girl and we were younger. She did stuff to get my attention and flirted with me on a regular basis. I met her because she laughed loudly at my joke and at great length then asked me to repeat it the. After I talked to her teased me. She butted in my conversations to try to talk to me ask me to repeat stuff or laugh at unfunny stuff I said. Found any excuse to talk to me hovered around me to try to talk to me approaching me with her friend. She’d giggle and say my name for no reason and when I looked at her. Compliment me a lot and find any excuse to compliment me. Get red while talking to me, smile and make no eye contact and hide her face. Blush and smile when I say hi. Couldn’t look me in the eyes or say hi first. When I talked to her she’d ask for a selfie with me for me to come from across the room and sit next to her and ask me to get closer to her before every one. When she wore something showing her boobs her friend came and got me for a selfie and blushed. Said my name a lot in a warm tone if I said something bad. Tease me after I talk to her. Stare at me every opportunity when I’m not looking. I see her around. As I got older I went to her work and she sat in a place that had a clear view of me and where I could see her then stared at me. I went to a store and she was in a car laughing loudly and when I looked at her turned her head and made a big smile. Dipped her head and raised her eyebrows then widened her eyes. held eye contact and didn’t stop and when I broke it continued staring and watched me leave. I ignored her and after that she had an attitude seeing me. I worked with her and I caught her secretly staring at strange places. I go to the same college as her. saw me in a classroom and went in then stared at me secretly. shows up 30 mins early for that class after seeing me and walks by looks at me walks by
4x and stands in the door then waits by it

Initially, I don't really find this girl THAT attractive. She's cute, yes, but nothing to write home about.

However, when around me, she'd always act a bit strange. Whenever she made eye contact with me, her face turned bright pink. And seeing her like that, I somehow became more attracted to her. In my mind, it made me want to defend and protect her, perhaps ask her what's wrong. But I didn't, as I feel it'd be awkward.

Whenever we work on school projects together, she's clearly super intelligent, but acts insecure around me. And when I tell her, her ideas are actually excellent, she looks super happy and blushes twice as much.

Seeing her blush so much... out of second hand embarrassment, I start to blush a bit too. 😂

I'm thinking on asking her out, as she seems like an excellent person, but I don't wanna come across as misreading her signs.

P. S- She's white, so blush shows up REALLY well on her, lol. She can't disguise it.
