I can’t remember the last time I or any of my friends (all in their early twenties or late teens) approached a girl.

I think guys basically don’t approach girls anymore. I can think of plenty of reasons why this has happened: stress (today’s young people are very stressed, which leads to lower sex drive and confidence), the constant criticism of masculinity (masculinity requires support because it’s tough to achieve; without support and celebration, it dies); greater access to and acceptability of the adult industry (which makes being single less painful for men).

I think girls are under the illusion that many guys still approach. It is true that most girls get approached, but it seems to be older men and the small minority of charming, non-pathetic young men who do most of the approaches. Perhaps this is why most girls these days find it difficult to convert a casual relationship into a committed one: there just aren’t enough men making approaches for each woman to have her own man.

When it comes to certain guys like myself getting the courage and confidence to approach a girl I still get shot down? Take yesterday for example I was at a store and there was this girl I found to be cute, so after a while I decided to make small talk with her and said screw it I'm gonna tell her she's cute. What's the worst that could happen? I get a thank you or laughed at? Well both happened I got a thank you but knew it was a fake thank you, how do I know well for starters she didn't look me in the eye I know if I was some good looking buffed DB I would of gotten a real thank you. Than a few moments later I see her coworkers looking and laughing at me. I wanted to tell them if you have something to say just say it instead of talking sh*t behind my back. But instead I kept quite I now regret not saying anything. I know I'm not the best looking, or confident guy on earth or that my personality is on par with other guys. And it doesn't even matter which girl I talk too she could be a 10 (which why would they even talk to me) or a 3? I'm sick of women saying looks are a bonus when in fact its all they want. Confidence and Personality as 0 to do with it if It did I would have a girlfriend by now. And don't tell me I don't have a valid point because I'm sure there are plenty of girls/women who've turned down great guys all because they weren't her type in terms of looks.
