Scenario: You are given an unlimited amount of money for one year against your will. At the beginning of this year you made a choice of whether to internalize the funding or externalize it.

If you chose to internalize the funding you can spend any amount of money on anything so long as it benefits directly yourself, your family, or your friends. During this year no one can be added to the roster for any of those groups so no new friends and no "long lost relatives" count. Also anyone that loses favor with you is off the list for the year.

If you choose to externalize the money you can spend as much as you see fit on any charity, research, foundation, or cause. During the year you cannot start your own philanthropic organization, cannot receive any sort of funds through any organization related to whomever you donate to, cannot receive for that year any benefits of the research done during the year no matter how critical it would be, and cannot track your funding so you don't know how effective the money was or if they are even using it for what they said they are. As an extension to this all private businesses and "Corporate Persons" are allowable however again you cannot be related to them and cannot track the money.

Of course you cannot cross the two; if you internalize the money you can create your own philanthropic organization but you cannot create a research organization that would find a cure for a problem or disease you have. You can pay for current care but nothing more. A second example would be directly receiving benefit from the research invested by investing in that research for a family member; they are extensions of you in this contract so even if they did find the cure to Parkinson's and your uncle had 4 mos. to receive it if there's 8 mos. in the year he cannot receive it. In order to receive it he would have to pay for it himself & you would have to effectively excommunicate him ( have a "fall out" ) from the group.

At the end of the year you are given two choices. You can either continue on the path and receive the funds again but not change the group who benefits or you can lose all the funding and never see it again. Should you choose to never see it again because it is an all encompassing fund you will lose all of your assets instantly regardless of whether you internalized or externalized and will be returned directly to $0. Society and your employers may decide, as it will be no secret that you had these funds, how to handle you themselves. It could be social suicide to partake even if you had no choice.This "arrangement" is permanent.
