Conservatives don't want gay marriage.

Progressive people want marriage equality.

People assume that those are incompatible, but they're not, we can meet both those requirements. Just get rid of marraige altogether and there will be marriage equality without introducing gay marriage.

People could still have wedding ceremonies and say they're married, call each other husband/wife etc. The governement just would give no legal recognition for marriage, but only civil unions (for everyone).

So we'd have complete equality and no gay marriage. Who thinks this compromise is a great idea?

Recently, the Supreme Court ruled in a 5-4 decision that gay marriage is legal in all fifty states. Nowhere in the US Constitution does it say so... yet they ruled it is anyway. Do you agree that it was okay for the Supreme Court to throw the Constitution out the window on this case?

For the record, I believe that gay people should be allowed to marry. However, I think its sad that our system of government has deteriorated to the point where judges are legislating from the bench. This should have been done at state government's level, not federally and not by a group of unelected judges.

I was reading about how the CEO of Firefox was basically forced to resign after it came out he donated to an organization that opposes gay marriage. Regardless of what you think on that issue, isn't it ridiculous for him to lose his job over a political disagreement? Please comment below explaining your position.

Since "love wins" now, why can't it be win universally?
