A divorced friend and their SO are currently having a disagreement. One makes an enormous amount more than the other, though they work more than 40hrs/week often. The one with the higher earnings has a much lower education / degree level. The one with the lower earnings has selected a minimum effort job with low compensation, though one of their undergraduate degrees is the exact same as my friends. They both have an equal number of kids from a prior marriage. They are discussing moving in together. My friends SO believes they should both share the household work and the income, whereas my friend feels this is an imbalance where one chooses to work less in a low stress job while expecting to receive half the income from the high stress/long hour job and take care of half of the household duties. What say you? If you were the one working more hours yet we're splitting the income and work at home and you had similar (or in this case, less) education would this matter?

Are race and intelligence, at least Math/English/Critical Reading intelligence, linked?

University of California, Berkeley, looked at 1.1 million applicants from 1994-2011 and found,

"More than a third of the variance in SAT scores can now be predicted by factors known at students’ birth, up from a quarter of the variance in 1994. Of those factors, moreover, race has become the strongest predictor. Rather than declining in salience, race and ethnicity are now more important
than either family income or parental education in accounting for test score differences. It
must be cautioned that these findings are preliminary, and more research is needed to determine whether the California data reflect a broader national trend."

You can read it all, but in short--they analyzed SAT scores on 1.1 million applicants applicants, and found that among the various differences, race and ethnicity are now more important in the SAT score differences than how much money your family makes or what level of education your parents had. And for reasons I do not really grasp, race has become *more* important a role in your SAT scores, not less. According to their graph, race just in 2010 or so became more important than if your parents are high school dropouts or have masters degrees.

Keep in mind that in these studies, Asians usually always outperform caucasians on average, before you say "the SAT is skewed towards whites!"

Me, I scored about 470/800 math, 500/800 English, and 720/800 Critical Reading, way back then. White.
