So my Dad died when I was very young and my mother remarried to a divorcee who also had a toddler age son with me in 1st grade and my older siblings and that was that. We were a family with my little brother home with us on weekends and summers and then comes along our new sis. Our parents were married for over a decade and only divorced once all but my sister were of legal age.

There's this what about holidays, can I even call you my brother anymore since we are step and now not even by marriage?

It's hard waters to navigate and hopefully declining with the divorce rate but I know others that went through the same thing with mixed outcomes.

The only reason I still think I thought of this is because when I tell people I work with I'm going to my Step Dad's for the weekend they assume he and my Mom are still married even though I don't say Mom's house or parents house.

Once they know my Dad passed away they are more accepting of it but my step brother's Mom is well and living and he also comes to spend holidays and what not with my Mom.

I think even if my Dad were still living and my mom had custody it would still be really weird to just never see my Step Dad after 20 years.

Is that fair to do to children? I think of younger children who go through this at 10 or so, it's the only Dad they ever knew and now the Mom is ripping him out of the kids life even if he wants to see the kid and is willing to pay child support for the right.

I know some courts have started allowing visitation for Step parents that played a large parenting role. But then I hear of other cases where the kids is legally adopted and they are denied parental rights.

You have common law marriage, should their be common law parental rights for Step parents?

For me personally it's animals all the way, however I wouldn't mind adopting children for later. I've just always enjoyed animals' company!

lets say you have a 18 year old daughter who's in college and dating a 50 year old man. She had s*x with this man, was caught kissing this man on Facebook, they went on dates, trips, bought a dog together and she even licked his but- hole at some point because he asked for it. At 20, she broke up with him and dropped out of college to be a stripper. She enjoyed her job and performed oral s*x on three different dudes made 2 thousand dollars per day. She wears mini skirts, v shape shirts, is flirty and enjoys every minute of it. At 24 She then went to trade school to be a plumber. Now she's in the process of getting her tubes tied and adopting a African American child.

how would you feel if this was your daughter?

This seems like a controversial topic so I'm curious to hear your thoughts.

Personally, I've seen what an abusive home and being in and out of foster care does to a child, so I believe that anyone should be able to adopt as long as they can provide a loving and safe environment and are financially stable.
