Growing up, me and my sister were polar opposites. I was always really popular, had lots of friends, and all the guys liked me. My sister, on the other hand, was a loner, was constantly bullied in school, and could never get a boyfriend.
17 years ago, we fell head over heels for the same guy. Lucky for me, he chose me, we got married two years later, and now have two sons. Meanwhile, my sister, despite now being a beautiful, successful pole-dancing instructor with her own studio, has not been very lucky when it comes to love, is 42 and never been married, and just can't seem to get a guy's attention no matter how hard she tries. Me and my husband would often rub our relationship in her face by embracing each other, kissing, cuddling, holding hands, etc. in front of her and then laughing about her being jealous. I also would often brag about how well-endowed here is and how amazing our sex life is. When my sister protested, we would snap at her and tell her to grow up and stop being such a jealous loser.
2 years ago, I was diagnosed with esophageal cancer, had to have my entire esophagus removed, and now have to be hooked up to a feeding tube every night. My sister, now comes by to visit me pretty often. When she comes, she would eat in front of me or talk about delicious meals that she's recently eaten. This really irks me and I often have my husband reprimand her for being so insensitive to me. She would insist that it's payback for all the times me and my husband were insensitive to her feelings and brazenly showed affection for each other in front of her. She says that I'm a narcissistic hypocrite for flipping out when she eats in front of me.
Am I really a hypocrite for being offended by my sister eating/discussing food in front of me, knowing that I am now unable to eat or drink anything?
