Search Results: get my ex back breakup

I don't mean to vent too much, but bear with me a bit. A month ago, I hit rock bottom for dating, I had the girlfriend from hell. Every bad thing you can think of that a girl can do to her man, she did and then some. After that, I admittedly vented a bit on here, and got many people who said things like "she probably upgraded from you anyways", "go get laid then, you sound like a sad mother ******", and so on. Although I didn't show it, those things did hurt, they struck deep because they caused me to look back on past relationships, how the people I was with made me feel like I wasn't good enough, both my ex and these people made me feel like I have nothing to offer, and that's why I keep ending up with these women instead of good girls or at least girls who won't do those things to me. I've been working on self improvement, I joined a new gym, got a job, and started therapy, but my depression is still there and those words wouldn't have struck as deep if they hadn't said it so soon after my breakup. Anyways, now that I'm done venting, do you think you have a lot to offer? And any advice?

By "long term" I mean at least a couple years after getting back together.

I personally have never gotten back with an ex because I don't break up with someone until I know it's never going to work so I don't have any regrets or desire to go back. I know other people break up and get back together and sometimes it works, but my guess is not very often because the same problems that led to the first breakup will probably lead to another.
