So I've got ball/prom coming up next year and I'm wondering if I should ask out my crush. I'm a girl and I've liked this guy for a while so I've been thinking about just going for it and asking him, but I'm also insanely scared of being rejected by him. He's a nice person so I don't think he'd make a huge scene out of it or anything if he were to reject me. We know each other and he's been in my classes before but we don't talk to each other very often. The times that we have talked, he's just asked me something that required like a one or two word answer. Although last time i texted him, he replied for a bit and then stopped so i'm not sure how to feel about that lol. But if I do ask him, what should I say? I'm not going to be doing anything grand but I'm just not sure what to say if I do end up asking him.

You've never had any friends, everyone bullies and makes fun of you, plays malicious practical jokes on you, laughs at you, etc. You've been trying to fit in since you were a kid, but to no avail.

Somebody takes you to prom out of pity. You are selected Prom King or Queen. You believe that you're finally starting to be accepted for the first time in your life. But when you go up, you are drenched with a bucket of rotting animal blood. The entire audience of 100+ people laughs at you.

This is based off the story Carrie & I'm asking because a guy told me that Carrie was being a wuss, being upset was her choice, she could've chosen not to be upset if she wanted, & if it happened to him, he'd "feel annoyed but then get over it."
