So I’m in my mid twenties and I feel like I am really cursed when it comes to people. I don’t have any close friends, the only people that I interact with on a social basis are online (met through gaming/apps etc). I’m very quiet and am at a point where I’m truly bitter. I do not speak with my family regularly, my father lives out of state & my mother and I are arguing. I don’t like my coworkers and know that some don’t like me either. When it comes to dating, I’ve truly given up. That’s why my mother and I are not talking, she made a statement about how I’m the issue & I play a part in my lack of relationships. I only attract men that I don’t want and the ones I like only want sex/don’t like me back/ are jerks etc. Since I don’t have anyone that can introduce me to people, I use the apps and they’re terrible. People say dating apps work but others say that they’re terrible too. I’m told I’m pretty but can confidently say that I may not be, due to the lack of attention received by the opposite sex.

I know I sound desperate when I type this but I just don’t get how I am meant to be alone. I’m 25, have a bachelors, own a condo and have a decent job. I don’t think I look overweight & I try to take care of my appearance. So why can’t I find a man? I’ve tried the apps on and off for years. I always attract what I don’t want. And what I do want: doesn’t like me back, only wants casual or is a total jerk. I’m told I’m nice so what gives? I have no friends either. I’m pretty easy going and feel like I have been able to accomplish what I want out of life, for the exception of a social life and good boyfriend. I am very distrusting of people in general, due to my bad experiences. I don’t think I’m overly picky and have every right to standards. I see people bigger and uglier or average looking, capable of finding a partner that I find appealing. I was fatter and didn’t get attention, I’m smaller now and still alone. I don’t message guys too often on the app, when I do make the first move, it doesn’t work out. Am I the problem (clearly not)?

I’m very frustrated with my dating circumstances. It never fails, if someone I find good looking talks to me, they’re either: not interested or only want casual. The ones that do pursue, I’m not attracted to them. I was speaking to someone who I thought was cute but admitted when we video chatted that he was 5’7. And I’m 5’7, I don’t want to be with someone my height and no longer wish to speak with him. It never fails: I only attract guys I don’t find good looking. The ones I find cute only want sex or are jerks. I’ve been told before that I will end up alone because of how picky I am and have also been called shallow. I don’t think I’m asking for a lot: good looks with ate, pretty etc and I used to be a chubby girl. Hence, why I was invisible for 18+ years. Now I’m 25 and smaller, I still only get approached by guys I don’t wanna pursue. Am I just cursed or am I too picky/ unrealistic?

I find with dating: I tend to attract what I don’t want and what I do want (typically based on looks), does not want me. If the good looking ones do, they mostly want something casual or are just jerks. I don’t think I’m bad looking and get complimented quite a bit. Is there something I’m doing wrong or am I unlucky beyond my control?
