My boyfriend and I have been dating for a little over a year now. He is 26 years old and I am 22. I have been in some bad situations with other guys therefore I have major trust issues. My boyfriend usually carries his phone everywhere with him: bathroom, outside with the dog, in the other room, etc. This makes me nervous. I feel as though it makes him seem like he is hiding something from me when he does this. So last night curiosity got the best of me...

He fell asleep early and was snoring on the couch and his phone was blinking (meaning a text/email or something) I fiddled around with it and started checking things. He has the conversation type set up on his phone and it saves messages from months ago. So I could see way back to around August. I found 4 conversations that made me worry.

First conversation that I was a little bit weary about was a 20 text total conversation with his ex girlfriend of 6 years. He had text her first in regards to a facebook update about her changing jobs. They were talking about that and asking how each other has been and what not. Nothing too out of the ordinary. (She is almost engaged to this new guy so I don’t feel as worked up but still it bothered me)

Second conversation was with a girl that he works with and they were joking around about work related things. Like how their break room should have a pizza maker and what not? I don’t know seemed weird but harmless. (His work has a Christmas party coming up which he invited me to so therefore I feel as though this girl is nothing to worry about if he is bringing me as his date to his major Christmas party that she will be at as well)

Third conversation was with some Canadian girl that he met on vacation 2 years back. We live a long ways from Canada like hours upon hours therefore there is no physical contact ever. He sent a picture text of Canadian books and wrote “these are nonsense haha” on like October 17 and she sent him “Hey:)” last night at around 11p.m. Harmless I know, but back before him and I started dating they would flirt a lot and send naughty picture texts back and forth. So I’m worried a lot about this but then again if it’s just talk and they will never come into contact or meet up then there is nothing to worry about right?

The fourth and final girl is an older lady who is in her late 30s but she is attractive. He tends to joke/flirt with her on occasion. They used to work at the same company together so I think it’s just a friendly thing and nothing would ever come of it.

I refuse to confront my boyfriend about these because he will be extremely angry with me for looking through his phone. However, it is bothering me. I need some opinions from people. These 4 conversations are the only 4 girls he had ever talked to besides me since August and it’s now November. I just always tend to get hurt so I feel like I need to keep a close eye on things. Someone please tell me it’s normal for a guy to talk with

i was friends with this guy back in september - february. we had just met in september, so we weren't that close. he seemed like he liked me romantically and we'd flirt a little and text back and forth, but then he stopped talking to me mid-feb after standing me up for a movie. we'd see each other in the street and he'd put his head down and keep walking. he did it til the end of our spring semester. I was confused and hurt by it and tried talking to him, but he wouldn't return text or calls. he signed off when I tried IMing him too, so I sent him an email telling him it was kinda messed up what he was doing and that if he had a problem, he should just tell me rather than confusing me. I said he was being strange and I didn't like it, but if that how it was, then fine.

he actually wrote back, said that he WAS strange and that he 'probably actually never' sees me. he apologized for standing me up because he said he thought things fell through for some reason and that he's sorry. he told me he was going to say hi once, but doesn't remember what happened.

i wrote back and told him I was still confused, but I guess there's no problem, and that I thought he was bullsh*tting about never seeing me, but whatever. he never wrote again after that and it's been two weeks. I don't feel like having him all over my fb page anymore. those damn mini feeds are torturing me, haha. I want to delete him. he's not even talking to me and it's still going to be awkward if we see each other in the fall, so what's the difference? should I delete him?
