A debate I had with a friend recently. He says that schizophrenia is worse than bipolar disorder and kept bringing up movie nonsense. I with real world facts said that bipolar is just as bad since both illnesses can drive the person mad and make them do harmful actions. Sure it depends on the individual case itself, some are minor and some are severe. The more severe cases of bipolar disorder can share some of the same symptoms of schizophrenia such as hallucinations. I tend to be angered when people downplay bipolar disorder and say it's the same thing as depression, when really bipolar disorder is much different.

Well, it's happening, I'm going to do it

I've been suffering symptoms of Schizophrenia and Depression for years now. I think I'm going through my active phase. Lately I've been hearing and seeing things that aren't there, my thoughts and speech have been disorganize. You can probably see my disorganized thought process here on G@G lately, me saying and thinking things that I had no control over. My food addiction is in full swing, I just spent all my money on food and alcohol and I have fees that I can't pay. I'm afraid of what delusions are going to come from this one and if I'm going to do something that I regret.

This morning I had an episode. I felt very depressed and angry, I just cried and shook and felt like tearing my room apart, I had voices and thoughts going through my head telling me how worthless and weak I am and that everyone hates me and I had visions of me harming myself and others. On my way to the gym I didn't know which reality I existed in or if I physically existed myself.

I just had a talk with my mother and I opened up to her. We decided to schedule an appointment with our doctor and see if I can get a referral to see a psychiatrist. I'm sitting here writing this with tear in my eyes and I feel scared. It feels like there's an anchor in my stomach. Is it normal to feel this way? I'm really trying not to bitch out of it and to get the help I need.

I've been suffering symptoms of Schizophrenia and Depression for years now and I'm going to have to seek help soon. Lately when I'm walking to the gym a 4:30 in the morning when nobody was around I would hear a second set of footsteps, I would stop, listen and look around to see nobody in sight, ahead of me in the distance I would see people running across the street and disappear, I would have the feeling of being followed and would want to run, I just kept telling myself to keep it together and they're not real, but this is minuscule compered to when the active phase is in full swing. My speech and thoughts have been getting disorganized, yesterday I found myself laying on my hard wood floor murmuring gibberish to myself.

My last active phase was in October and November of last year and during that time I heard voices bullying me and telling me to do horrible things to myself and others, I would also hear gunshots, bangs, screams and other loud noises that had me going downstairs and ask my parents if they hear it just for them to say that they didn't hear anything. I also remember seeing the hallucinations I'm seeing right now, scariest one was seeing a dozen heads peeking through the wooded area by my gym like they were spying on me. I had the delusion that the government kidnapped my cat and replaced him with a robot to spy on me and I ended up kicking my cat out of my room for a week. That was scary and I barely left my house for the entire 2 months it went on.

I'm afraid that the psychiatrist is going to accuse me of "faking it." I've tried to talk to my mom about it a couple times but she always would beat me down even more. I'd hate to seek professional help for them to do the same thing. I more of an effort to hide my illness than to express it. I don't like talking about it nor do I brag about it like those teenagers who think they're "mental" just because they dye their hair and pierce their nose.

PLEASE HELP

Let me just start off by saying that my mother isn't the worst mother in the world, and she wasn't outright abusive (or at least I don't think she was), but I just think she failed as a parent, but it's not entirely her fault because she picked most of this stuff up from her mother.

She was sleeping around with a couple different men at the time I was conceived so we don't know who exactly my biological father is. This made me uncomfortable with sex even till this day.

She let me drink Coke since I was 2 followed up by more unhealthy habits which let me to struggle with obesity my entire life.

When she was mad at someone that wasn't around she would take it out on me. Usually by yelling at me when I asked what's for dinner, I still struggle to ask questions to people.

She didn't let me do boxing as a kid so I can stand up to my bullies. She said it was too dangerous.

There were a couple of times she choked me for being clumsy as a kid.

She married a drunk for my first step dad.

She never tried to understand my issues. I once tried to tell her that I was having suicidal thoughts and she just threatened to put me in a mental hospital and said "I could've just aborted you."

She put cigarettes and weed before food.

She always fought my battles for me, even till this day and I never learned to be a man.

She's very lazy and always procrastinates and is irresponsible with money which didn't set a good example.

She never really payed attention to me as a kid because she was focused on my older siblings.

She cared more about my grades than my mental health. I started experiencing symptoms of Schizophrenia and depression at 14 and my grades started slipping especially after my grandmother dies when I was 16. I was just a lettet to her and she made me feel worthless.

She basically dumped me in the failing school system's lap and expected them to turn me into a man, and the school system just put me on aderall which gave me Tourettes.

But I still love my mother

It's been 7 months since I had a devastating breakup with my ex. I haven't felt the same since, and it didn't make things better when I tried dating too soon after and hurting myself more.
To further compound that, I suffered two serious concussions by nothing but dumb luck. For the most part I'm ok. But I feel depressed.
My dad and stepmom gave me a folder with counseling options and they said they believe I have aspurgers or some other kind of form of autism. I got immediately enraged and they pointed out it's a symptom.
In addition to this, before I graduated highschool, I told my parents I was suicidal and they told me I was insulting them and I shouldn't disrespect them like that. To which point I moved out a few days later.

Would you get offended by this? They said it caused my relationship to fail, and let to my depression and struggles now.
